Project description

China is the only country whose elderly pupolation is more than 100 millions, and is increasing at a speed of 3% each year,5 times more than the speed of same period's total populatiton.It is estimated that the elderly pupolation is gona reach 221 millions,nearly 16% of the total population, and will be 243 millions in 2020,almost 18% of the total population, and far more than the standard of the world's elderly population.

The project locates in Beijing where the extent of aging is very typical in the whole country and the number of old people is near 3 millions, and this number will reach 4 millions in 2020. Beijing as one of the region who have the highest level of aging, where the beds in the Nursing home are far unable to satisfy the growing need.

The land resource right now cannot meet the huge date of aging people, and there are a series of other city problem like overcrowding, housing shortage, traffic congestion, environment pollution and so on.Then how to build a comfortable integrated home-based city where old people could enjoy their rest of life , breathing the fresh air, tasting the warm sunshine and owning a harmonious social neighbor.

"Air courtyard " own a series of integrated services to support it which can satisfy living ,entertainment,medical treatment,leisure and rehabilitation, and the application of zero-carbon technology, creating a three-dimensional and integrated style,helping librate and ease the extent of aging of Beijing whith is caused by the declining of brithrate and the rising of aging rate.The traditional courtyard was replaced by the high buliding made of reinforced concrete,but each old men have an obsession to the old courtyard lifestyle.Using a surround box wall to verify the history of the city,enhancing the belongingness of eld people, satisfying their inner heart's need to return back to nature." Enjoying happiness alone is not as happy as sharing it".The sweety design of scale space,not only could maintain the traditional culture 's harmonious neighbor enviroment,but also forming a social networking system which make the courtyard be the center and reducing the distance of neibor.
